WELAB BARCELONA
Safety tests
Ensuring the safety of drug candidates is highly important in the pharmaceutical industry. In vitro pharmacology plays a pivotal role in toxicity testing, allowing researchers to assess how drugs impact various organs and systems at an early development stage.
At Welab, we offer automated patch-clamp assays to anticipate potential cardiotoxicity events of compounds at the three main ion channels involved in cardiac activity (hERG, Nav1.5 and Cav1.2). Also, by conducting experiments on isolated tissue-relevant cells, such as brain-derived neurons for neurotoxicity studies or iPSC cardiomyocytes for cardiotoxicity studies our scientists can predict potential adverse effects to take decisions about the viability of drug candidates before advancing to animal or clinical trials.
